How much does an apartment cost?

Are the apartment sizes and floor plans final?

No. The apartment types, sizes and floors currently shown on the project website are demonstration data, not confirmed plans.

Rental applications & documents

Our proposed step-by-step document process

Initial enquiry: name, email and apartment preference. Application: admission/enrolment information and limited contact details. Before signing: identity verification and proportionate evidence of financing where necessary. The final process will be announced before applications open.

Please do not send unsolicited passport copies, bank statements, visas or other sensitive documents by email. Secure document uploads are not yet enabled.

Who can apply for student housing?

The project is intended for students. The exact eligibility requirements, including whether proof of enrolment will be mandatory, will be announced before applications open. Nationality alone is not a reason for exclusion.

What documents might students from Germany need?

Depending on the stage, contact details, proof of university admission or enrolment, identity verification and suitable evidence of ability to pay rent may be requested. Exact requirements will be published later. Do not email unsolicited ID copies or sensitive financial documents.

What about students from the EU, EEA or Switzerland?

Typically, a valid ID card or passport and any study or financing evidence required in the individual case. EU/EEA nationals generally do not need a German residence permit. Special residence formalities apply to Swiss nationals.

What about students from outside the EU?

A valid passport and, depending on nationality and circumstances, a visa or residence permit may be required, alongside proof of admission or enrolment. A rental agreement does not replace a visa or establish a right of residence. Consult the relevant German diplomatic mission or immigration authority.

Can I enquire from abroad before arriving in Germany?

Yes, you may contact us from abroad. Whether online applications or remote contract signing will be offered has not yet been decided. Immigration requirements remain separate.

Do I need a German bank account, SCHUFA report or guarantor?

None is a universal legal requirement for entering a rental agreement. Eligible SEPA accounts from other participating countries must also be considered for SEPA payments. Campus Living's specific, proportionate payment evidence requirements have not been finalised.

How can I demonstrate that I can afford the rent?

Depending on circumstances, income statements, scholarship awards, BAföG decisions, suitable evidence of funds or a guarantor may be relevant. A blocked account may be required for some visa procedures but is not a blanket rental requirement.

How much can the security deposit be?

For residential tenancies, a cash deposit is generally limited to three months' net cold rent under section 551 of the German Civil Code (BGB). Payment in three equal monthly instalments is generally permitted, with the first due at the start of the tenancy. The project-specific deposit is not yet known.

Do I need to register my address?

In general, you must register your address within two weeks after moving into accommodation in Germany. The landlord or housing provider usually supplies a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung (housing provider confirmation) after move-in. Existing German registration is not a universal prerequisite for signing a lease.

Can I start with a university admission letter rather than enrolment confirmation?

An admission letter may help with an initial enquiry. Whether and when an enrolment certificate is required will be specified in the eventual rental conditions.

Can I use BAföG or housing benefit (Wohngeld)?

Eligibility depends on individual circumstances and the applicable law. Students who are eligible for BAföG in principle are often excluded from housing benefit, with exceptions. The competent authorities decide. See our BAföG guide.

When will I receive a rental agreement?

Only after the rental launch, actual available apartments, prices and selection process have been confirmed. An enquiry or expression of interest is neither a reservation nor a rental offer.
